Every year, my hometown of Brisbane puts on a 3 week festival called “BrisFest” to celebrate our amazing city and the river it is built around. Each night during the festival there’s a light show on the river that can be seen from the shore of Southbank, the site of World Expo ’88. There’s local cultural events on including performances from musicians, dancers, circus performers and more. Then, on the final night, a massive fireworks show concludes the festival. The Story Bridge, several inner city buildings and the Southbank stretch of the Brisbane river are lit up with 20 minutes of amazing fireworks while planes and helicopters entertain the crowds in the afternoon. This is one of my favourite parts of living in Brisbane and I can’t wait each time to find a location around our city and look up in awe at what is undoubtedly the BEST fireworks Brisbane has to offer. This year, we watched the show from Southbank, along with at least 200, 000 other locals. Here’s my shaky, but watchable video of the entire fireworks show.
